The all-new Proton Persona is officially launched

Proton expects to sell between 3000-4000 units per month

The all-new Proton Persona was officially launched by Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed just a few minutes ago. Since much have been told about the car [click here for our quick review and here for first driving impressions], all that is left is just the price. Here you go:

The new Persona is described by Dato’Sri Mustapa as being the cheapest 1.6-litre car in South East Asia.

From now until 30 September 2016, every purchase receives a 3-year free service (parts and labour included).

The Persona is powered by a 1.6-litre VVT engine that is also used by the Iriz. The new Persona is also the first Proton car that features am ‘Eco Drive’ indicator which informs the driver when the vehicle is driven at optimum efficiency. Based on Proton’s own internal test, the Persona is able to achieve a fuel consumption of 5.6-litre/100km if driven at a constant speed of 90kph.

Since booking opened last week, Proton has taken roughly 1000 orders. Proton CEO Dato’Ahmad Fuaad Kenali mentions that the company expects to sell between 3000-4000 units per month.
