Proton dealers get to learn from Geely

Proton brings their top dealers to Shanghai and learn how Geely operate their facilities

One of Li Chunrong’s main agenda for Proton since helming the national carmaker is to improve customer satisfaction, a component which has consistently been a weak point. Perhaps a reason for this is non-exposure to how a proper servicing environment rewards not only the customer but also the brand.

Proton recently took a group of its top dealers to Shanghai, China, and witness how current Geely dealers operate their business. It’s not quite a conventional move, but the Geely dealers opened their doors for the Malaysians to learn and study their daily operation. The Malaysian group was 28-strong, accompanied by Proton officials and representatives from a financial institution.

The Malaysian dealers were even given the opportunity to test drive the Geely Boyue, scheduled to be launched in Malaysia by the end of 2018 as the first Proton using a Geely platform.

Apparently, everyone in the group were impressed with the SUV, citing its luxurious interior and premium feel.

On top of that, they also visited the Geely Research Institute where they saw the group’s current technology and future designs.

On Proton’s part, they are urging their dealers and service centre operators to upgrade their facilities in view of the imminent launch of the new models. Some in the group have already announced that they will be spending millions to do just that.
