You can now have more retro wraps on your Porsche 911 Dakar

After launching the 911 Dakar with a brilliant Rothmans-esque ‘Roughroads’ livery option, Porsche has now announced more retro wraps for the off-road ready 911.

Check out the images above. We’ll kick off with the most recognisable – the Martini-style number 14 wrap. In Porsche circles that livery throws it back to 1978, when South African duo Vic Preston Jr and John Lyall took second place in the East African Safari Rally in a 911 SC Group 4. Want it on your new Dakar? That’ll set you back €5,950 (RM28k). Yikes.

Next up is the number 19 with the blue stripe. That recalls Björn Waldegård’s 1974 East African Safari Rally car – a Carrera 2.7 RS if you can believe it. Waldegård led for much of that race before a damaged wishbone cost him 72 minutes. He still finished second. Fancy emulating the Swede? That’ll be €4,165 (RM19.6k).

And finally there’s the super-simple second number 19 wrap, which comes from the 1971 running of the same rally. Known as the Rallye 1971 decal set (wonder how they came up with that name), it throws it back to the most successful 911 S campaigned that year, which was driven by Polish drivers Sobiesław Zasada and Marian Bie. That’s also a €4,165 (RM19.6k) option.

What do we reckon then, Internet? Would you spec any of these wraps on your new Dakar?
