It goes from zero to hundred in just 3.6 seconds and it's road-legal

Caterham has unveiled the new Seven 420 Cup, a road-going, track-focussed model inspired by its top-tier Seven UK Championship Racecar.

Powered by a 2.0-litre Duratec engine producing 210 hhp and 203 Nm of torque, the Seven 420 Cup has a power-to-weight ratio of 375 hp-per-tonne and a 0 - 100 km/h sprint time of just 3.6 seconds which is similar to what you get from a modern day supercar. 

Paired to the engine is a SADEV six-speed sequential gearbox with flat-shift, fully-adjustable dampers and Avon ZZR tyres as standard. Available for the first time on any road-going Caterham, the Seven 420 Cup possesses fully-adjustable Bilstein dampers as well. 

Tuned specifically for the Seven 420 Cup, the dampers come with ten stiffness settings which can be accessed without the use of any tools in just a couple of minutes, giving the Seven 420 Cup true ‘arrive and drive’ track day flexibility.

Exterior highlights include a race-style nose cone, a centralised petrol filler and new LED rear lights, while an optional Race Roll Cage adds a metal boot cover and racing wing mirrors for a full competition-spec look.

A unique livery featuring translucent satin decals and custom track-day graphics is also offered as standard. 

Inside, the Seven 420 Cup gets composite seats as standard with model-exclusive embroidery, a 620-style dashboard finished in satin carbon, and new Seven 420 Cup racing dials, while Alcantara trim features on the transmission tunnel and headrests.

The cabin also benefits from red highlights on the seat pads, dials and tunnel-top. 

Sitting between the road-going Seven 420R and the purpose-built Caterham Seven Championship Racecar in the line-up, the Seven 420 Cup possesses a top speed of 218 km/h and will be available in the UK and US with a choice of standard and large chassis sizes.

While production is slated to begin in early 2023, the Caterham Seven 420 Cup will only be available as factory built and not as a kit form.
