The new Bentley Continental GT V8 starts from RM795k*

Think the W12-powered third-gen Continental GT or its four-door Flying Spur twin is tad a bit much? Well, fret not as the folks at Bentley Kuala Lumpur have officially welcomed the slightly milder V8-powered version of Crewe’s mega GT into its line up.

For those curious, the car featured here is dressed in Bentley's ‘Dragon Red II’ paint option, matched with a set of black-painted 10-spoke 20-inch wheels. Inside, there's Crewe’s signature ‘Liquid Amber’ Veneer woodwork option plus Beluga hide with contrast stitching in saddle finishing.

Plenty of tech too here including the novel James Bond-esque rotating 12.3-inch infotainment screen amongst many. Yup, much of Bentley’s famed magic for handcrafted luxury and bespokery seen in the full-fat W12 version isn’t lost at all in this ‘baby’ variant as well.

The key difference  lies underneath this Conti GT’s long front end. Instead of 12 cylinders in a ‘W’ arrangement, this one features a more ‘modest’ count of 8 cylinders in a ‘V’ arrangement instead. Oh yes, still has a pair of turbos too, guaranteeing 542bhp and 770Nm of twist.

Said outputs are put on the ground through all four wheels by an 8-speed DCT automatic box, ensuring 0-100kph is dispatched in just 4 seconds flat whilst enroute to a claimed 318kph V-Max. In contrast, these readouts aren’t too far off the W12 version’s 3.7 seconds and 333kph figures.

Certainly, this V8 version’s lighter 2,165kg claimed kerb weight promises even greater agility and an even more distinct driving dynamics.

As for price, that’s been lightened over the W12’s figure too, albeit slightly as far as Bentley prices go. With the order books for it now open at Bentley Kuala Lumpur, the new third-gen Bentley Continental GT V8 start from RM795,000 excluding options, duties, taxes and on-road costs.
