The Kahn Design X-Class is um… interesting

Despite its wider track, different springs and extra sound insulation, we all know that the Mercedes X-Class pickup shares plenty of bits with the workaday Nissan Navara. The two are even built on the same ladder chassis, with the same 4WD system and same low-range gearboxes.

Merc tried hard to differentiate the two by re-designing both the exterior panels and interior trim, though, and in truth the Germans made a decent job of it. The signature Merc grille works well, and the X is posher than an everyday pickup inside – even if it doesn’t match up to an E- or MLE-Class.

It seems interesting then, that for its modified X-Class, Kahn Design has decided to re-trim the interior and remove the large badging from the front grille. Hmmmm.

Anyway, who are we to question those decisions. You can make your own mind up about how it looks. Away from that grille there’s extended wheel arches, a new front bumper and massive 22-inch wheels. Inside is some new black quilted leather with red trim, and some Kahn seat studs. Lovely.

The mods are pictured on a V6-powered X350, but Kahn is currently selling a 2.0-litre X-Class for £48,999 (approx. RM254,000). That’s quite a lot. There are no changes to the internals either – this is all about the looks.

Interested?
