The 2020 Lexus LX570 is a RM1.3m tribute to all things big and bountiful

The Lexus LX570 is a behemoth of a car, and a fittingly pricey one at that. Lexus Malaysia has just opened the order books for its flagship SUV's 2020 update, and it will set you back a cool RM1,225,883 AFTER factoring in the government's sales tax exemption. But you will be getting a lot of car to justify the huge sum of money.

Size and quantity matters in the LX. As its name suggests, its V8 engine is a whopping 5.7 litres in capacity. Its wheels are 21 inches in diameter. Inside its three-row cabin are 19 speakers that make up the Mark Levinson Premium Surround System. And it's bolstered by 16 channels of amplification. All of that sumptuous audio is controlled using an 11.6-inch touchscreen. And there are 10 airbags fitted throughout the car for good measure. Good luck getting this much features in a similarly-priced sports car.

On top of some slight visual revisions, Lexus has enhanced the LX with something it calls a Front Performance Damper and the Lexus Safety System Plus (LSS+) package of safety technologies, which is now standard across the board. Speaking of which, there is a new Sport variant in the mix with edgier bumpers, spindle grille and 21-inch alloys. That one's going to cost you RM1,281,938 on the road without insurance (additional RM56k).

How's that for practical opulence?
