Honda has a knack for bouncing between bold and safe designs whenever it hits the drawing board for a new Civic. And there's no prizes for guessing which phase it's currently in with the 11th-generation model. The red car you see here is the first official image of the US-spec 2022 Honda Civic. It's a very conservative look that doesn't come as much of a surprise; we already knew what to expect when the Japanese carmaker showed us its Civic Prototype last year. And while the exterior is much more filtered than the 'Civic Ketam' it's bound to replace, the simplicity in its front end does remind us a bit of older Civics, particularly the fourth-gen model from the late 80s', with some hints of the Civic EG that came after visible as well. The tinted headlights are somewhat retro too.
True enough, Honda says its latest Civic is 'inspired by the timeless design and human-focused values of past Civics'. Its designers and engineers prioritised the brand's human-centred design philosophy when developing the latest car, so we can probably expect a sedan that's notably more practical and spacious inside, if and when it lands in Malaysia.
For the time being, the all-new Civic Sedan has been confirmed for mass production in the carmaker's manufacturing facility in Allistion, Canada. It will officially be launched in America on 28 April, during which more details, such as powertrains and features, will be known. A hatchback variant has also been confirmed, and it will be the first such model to be manufactured in the United States once it's ready. A Type R model is supposedly in the pipeline as well.
So, are you looking forward to this Civic? Or will you be rushing to snap up a brand new FC unit while you can?
