Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is almost ready for launch

By sep, 25 February 2021

We’re merely days away from the official global launch of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo which will take place on 4 March 2021 at 11 pm (MYT). To date, this fully-electrified Cross Utility Vehicle is in the final stages of its very extensive testing programme over at several iconic circuits like the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Hockenheim, and other places around the globe.

They’ve also included some off-road testing sessions at a few locations, including the Weissach Development Centre just outside of Africa. All in all, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has completed a total of 998,361km which translates to going around the globe almost 25 times. If that’s not ‘extensive’ in your book, then you’ll probably need a new book.

You can also expect all the major strengths of the current Taycan sports saloon to be available in the Taycan Cross Turismo, which includes superior performance and long-range coverage without having to use a single drop of fossil fuel. Other notable features include Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system, adjustable air suspension, optimised interior space for comfort, and many more.

According to Stefan Weckbach, Porsche’s Vice President Model Line, “When developing the Cross Turismo, we were of course able to build on our experience with the Taycan sports saloon. The biggest challenge was combining the requirements of sportiness with off-road capabilities. The Cross Turismo has to be capable of high performance on the racetrack and must also be able to handle scree, mud and gravel.”

“The result (Endurance Testing Ground) is impressive. However, the Cross Turismo is not a hardcore off-road vehicle, but specialises in unpaved and dirt roads. It’s like a type of Swiss army knife on up to 21-inch wheels,” added Weckbach.

Porsche will carry forward in all the necessary testing phases in its extensive programme before the car goes into the market across Europe sometime between June and September this year. As for the global official introduction, stay tuned for that which is set to take place on 4 March 2021 at 11 pm Malaysian time.
