UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has made a statement that Toyota Rush units sold by the company is not affected by any product recall move. This is in response to the recalls issued by Toyota Motor Philippines due to defect in the component’s electronic control unit (ECU).

According to our friends in Top Gear Philippines, all the Rush SUVs involved in the move were produced from 2 April 2018 until 7 February 2019. The ECU defect may cause the curtain airbag to deploy when the vehicle goes over rough road surfaces, including potholes.

So, let’s repeat that – the locally-made Toyota Rush sold by UMWT is not affected by this recall order.

The Toyota Rush is available locally in two variants of 1.5G and 1.5S with a starting price of RM93,000.
