Shell Malaysia have just introduced a new packaging scheme for select products within their best-selling Helix motor oils product range. The redesigned packaging can now be found on the following products:
1. Shell Helix Ultra 5W 40 (4L)
2. Shell Helix HX7 10W 40 (4L)
3. Shell Helix HX7 5W 30 (4L)
4. Shell Helix HX5 10W 30 (3L)
5. Shell Helix HX5 15W 40 (4L)
Sporting a redesigned label, there it now bears a new Malaysian market-only designation (‘Made for Malaysia’ written in Bahasa Malaysia) on the front, top right corner of the label. Peel this section away and a unique QR code is revealed, allowing consumers to scan and verify them easily online.
The move sees Shell taking further steps towards combating counterfeit products – a problem rampant in this region, local Malaysian market included. Notably, prices and formulation remains the same as before with these oils that are made and packaged in Shell’s Lubricant Oil Blending Plant at Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
Besides product verification, the new QR codes on these packages also enables easy registration for the Shell Advantage Rewards (SHARE) programme which rewards customers with goodies that include a sign-up bonus, Shell Helix Engine Warranty (SHEW) and free Shell Helix products (terms and conditions apply).
The introduction of Shell Helix products with ‘Made for Malaysia’ labels is ongoing and is expected to be completed by January 2019. During this transition period, official genuine Shell Helix products with old labels would still be on sale and can be authenticated using the existing unique product code on the label.
The official genuine Shell Helix engine oils for the Malaysian market can be purchased from Shell Helix-branded workshops, selected workshops served by authorised Shell distributors and Shell retail stations. They are also available online at Lazada Malaysia, 11street and Shopee via Shell Malaysia’s official online stores.
