Michelin LTX Trail pick-up and SUV tyre launched in Malaysia

Michelin has launched a new tyre aimed at pick-up trucks and SUVs in Malaysia called the LTX Trail. 

According to Oliver Biggart, managing director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, the LTX Trail tyre is 'perfect for consumers who own 4x2 and 4x4 high-rise pick-ups such as the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner and Nissan Navara'. 

He added that the new tyre is recommended for drivers who do about 80 percent on-road driving and 20 percent off-road. 

Michelin claims that its 'RallyForce2' tread compound provides improved durability and service life, with an estimated 41 percent increase in mileage based on third-party tread wear tests conducted using a 2013 Toyota Fortuner. Variable thickness sipes improve handling, grip and braking performance. Under wet conditions that Malaysia is notorious for, Michelin says that the LTX Trail offers an improvement in braking distance of up to 3.1 metres when new (3.8 in the dry) and 4.6 metres when worn. Sound pressure level is also down by 19.8 percent thanks to 'duo-harmony' block design. 

In Malaysia, the Michelin LTX Trail is offered in nine sizes for wheel diameters ranging from 15 to 18 inches.
