Lexus Malaysia began hinting that the all-new Lexus ES – first previewed during the last KLIMS just over half a year ago – will be launched ‘sometime in 2019’. Well, this is it; although while we still don’t know the exact market launch date, the car is now available for booking beginning today.

According to the company’s press release, two variants of the ES250 will be introduced – Luxury and Premium. The former will spearhead the line-up, with features that include 10-way powered front seat, powered reclining rear seats, 3-zone climate control, a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch Electro Multi-vision Display in the centre console and a panoramic view monitor.

Both cars will come with a comprehensive safety system packaged in the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+). Among key components of this suite of passive and active systems are Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Stop and Go Function.

The upcoming new Lexus ES will come with 3 Bi-Beam LED headlights, with the Luxury version having the added feature of Adaptive High Beam System (AHS) that channels the appropriate amount of light to darker areas of the road without blinding drivers in on-coming vehicles. In case you’re wondering if it’ll come with the cool Digital Outer Mirror, the answer would be a hard ‘No’. It’s because that little piece of tech is only available in Japan for now.

What is certain is that the fully imported ES250 is sold with a choice of seven exterior colours and two interior colours. The engine is a 2.5-litre petrol engine that makes 204hp and 243Nm paired with an 8-speed automatic. Price is expected to be RM299,888.
