Local superbike fans are revelling in a golden age of sorts given just how many are now officially on sale in Malaysia. The latest contender in this segment just made its debut just last weekend, and it’s none other than the 2019 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory.

Fresh off their launch of the Moto Guzzi V85TT, official importer and distributor Didi Resources Sdn Bhd held a special launch event for the new superbike offering last weekend at the popular biker hangout of The Podium in Penchala, TTDI.

The RSV4 model has been around for a decade now, but this latest 2019 iteration is arguably its best form yet. In this guise, Noale's speedy missile adopts a larger new 1,078cc V4 heart lifted from the Tuono V4 Factory streetfighter, outputting a whopping 217hp and 122Nm.

This mill is paired with a six-speed box that’s brimmed with both a slipper clutch and quickshifter. Said powertrain is encased within a signature Aprilia aluminium chassis design, tipping the scales at just 177kg dry (or 199kg kerb). Adding to the low weight figure are things like a lithium-ion battery and the heavy use of carbon fibre panels.

Notable hardware in this new 2019 model include 17-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels, fully adjustable Öhlins race suspension, as well as Brembo Stylema dual front disc brakes and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres. Also a treat here is the powertrain’s standard-equipped Akrapovič exhaust kit.

New and revised too are the RSV4 1100 Factory’s Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) electronics suite. Notable features here include traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cruise control, pit lane speed limiter, as well as the Bosch 9.1 MP cornering ABS suite. Welcoming here too is a new fully digital dash display panel.

This being a race-bred machine, the new Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory also benefits with race-derived aerodynamics. Key to this superbike’s aerodynamic performance the pair of winglets mounted on both sides of its fairings. The wings aren’t just for show as they provide downforce that’s essential for both high-speed stability and wheelie mitigation.

As an added bonus, the first batch of RSV4 1100 Factory superbikes imported by Didi Resources Sdn Bhd will also come brimmed with the optional carbon fibre front wheel cover that sports cooling ducts for the front brakes. This optional feature is essential for trackday use as they provide enhanced brake cooling.

Dubbed as the most powerful normally-aspirated and non-homologation special sportbike on sale today, the new 2019 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory is poised to give its rivals like the Ducati Panigale V4 S something to sweat about, especially with its RM159,900 starting price tag (excluding insurance and on-road costs).

Too racy for you? Well, fret not as Didi Resources Sdn Bhd have also announced the availability of the 2019 Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory streetfighter twin (pictured below). This naked alternative even boasts intelligent semi-active suspension, promising a better ride on-road. This alternative will also cost much less with its RM119,000 base price tag.

Included in both prices is a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty. For a closer look at both, visit the Aprilia flagship showroom located in The Gasket Alley, Petaling Jaya or any of the brand’s four authorised dealers.
