1984 Porsche 964 Turbo with factory-fitted X88 pack belonging to Jenson Button goes on auction

This is an old Porsche 911 currently available for purchase, via auction. But, like so many Porsche 911s, it is no ordinary Porsche 911. It is a 1994 964 Turbo that rolled out of the factory wearing the very rare and very cool-sounding ‘X88’ pack.

Much to TopGear.com’s dismay, this X88 pack didn’t turn the 964 Turbo into an adamantium-boned ageless mutant warrior, but nevertheless gave it herculean feats of strength: power from that boosted 3.6-litre flat-six rose from 360bhp to 380bhp thanks to modified cylinder heads, new cams and a new turbo.

Oh, and there’s just one more thing. This 964 belongs to 2009 Formula One world champion Jenson Button.

It’s being offered via the Collecting Cars platform and comes with no reserve, so best get your bids in quick. It was originally ordered new for the Sultan of Brunei, and we’re told this is the only X88-pack 964 Turbo painted in the admittedly very fetching ‘Horizon Blue’ colour.

It features a ‘Marine Blue’ leather interior too, electric ‘comfort’ seats, wears just 19,283 miles (31,032km) on the clock and comes with the “correct set of polished 18in split-rim Speedline alloy wheels”. It’s been the subject of a recent service too and even comes with an MOT bearing zero advisories. That is a Big Deal for those familiar with running old cars.

Looks… proper, doesn’t it? The auction closes on 2 September. You know what to do.
