Hennessey will give your 765LT 1,000bhp for a little over RM100k

Right, let’s come straight out with it. Hennessey is now offering a new HPE1000 upgrade for the McLaren 765LT. For those that are au fait with Mr Hennessey’s naming strategies, that means we’re about to see 765LTs with 1,000bhp.

You can check out our full review of the long-tailed 765 by clicking these blue words. Spoiler alert – we weren’t left wishing it had an extra 200+bhp.

Although, Hennessey says that when it tested its donor car on a dyno, the 765LT wasn’t putting out the 755bhp that McLaren says it should. Instead, the completely standard car was making closer to 865bhp. Conservative, much?

Anyway, that means the HPE1000 upgrade simply includes new air filters, a remapped ECU and an updated stainless-steel exhaust. It also only costs $24,950 (RM103k), which should be chump change if you’ve just purchased a 765LT. And if you’re a little strapped for cash, why not just avoid the MSO option of speccing the door and rear bumper panels in carbon fibre? That’ll save you £30,000 (RM161k).

Oh, and if you needed any more convincing, the Hennessey-tuned 765LT will do 0-97kph in 2.1 seconds. That’d wake you up.

So, what do we think Internet? And where would you take your (fictional, probably) 765LT – Hennessey or Novitec?
