Ford Ranger 2.2 XLT Special Edition announced – RM120,888

Local Ford distributors Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) have announced a new special variant of the Ranger pick up truck. Notably, this special was tailored exclusively for the Malaysian market.

Based off the Ranger 2.2 XLT variant, the Special Edition sees this truck brimmed with a few extras. Available exclusively in either black or white, the Ranger 2.2 XLT Special Edition comes dressed with an exclusive snazzy decal pattern at the back, as well as a set of fender flares and a functional tonneau cover.

On board, this Ranger gets an uprated infotainment suite as well. The 9-inch touchscreen has been upgraded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, thus supporting mobile apps such as Spotify, Waze, YouTube and Google Chrome via hotspot connectivity.

On top of that, the infotainment system also benefits with a reverse camera function – a feature absent in the variant this special is based upon – which in turn grants greater convenience for drivers, especially for parking.

Beyond these enhancements, the Ranger 2.2. XLT Special Edition doesn’t differ mechanically from the regular 2.2 XLT variant. It still harnesses Ford’s Duratorq 2.2-litre turbo-diesel heart and six-speed automatic box combination, the former boasting157bhp and 385Nm of twist.

Standard equipment include 4X4 Shift-On-The-Fly, two airbags, e-locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), ISOFIX child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Rollover Mitigation, Trailer Sway Control and Adaptive Load Control.
