Last month, Honda's luxury subsidiary Acura confirmed that the Integra nameplate will be making a highly-anticipated comeback. We were only provided a teaser of a headlight close-up then, complete with the Integra lettering up front which pays tribute to the iconic mid-90s Honda/Acura model.

This time around, an official shot of the rear quarter all but confirms that the next-generation Integra will be a five-door fastback, designed with similar svelte cues as European five-door coupes such as the Mercedes CLA and Volkswagen Arteon. As per the front section, the Integra name is indented into the rear bumper too, just below the taillight which promises some cool LED signatures.

The shot also gives us a glimpse of the new Integra's sleek roofline and similarly fluid window frame, which hints at the possibility of frameless windows. Acura says it will be a 'premium sport compact', which strongly suggests that it may share the same bones as the 11th-generation Honda Civic

The five-door architecture is also a nod to the 1986 Acura Integra, which helped launch the Acura brand in the US all those years ago in five-door hatch format.

Reckon there'll be a business case for Honda to reproduce this new Integra for markets outside America? Our fingers are certainly crossed...
