BYD Atto 3 EV launched in Malaysia - 2 variants, from RM149,800

Sime Darby Motors today officially launched the BYD brand in Malaysia, along with the BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV.

Built on BYD's e-platform 3.0 chassis, the Atto 3 will be available in two variants in Malaysia, namely the BYD Atto 3 Standard Range which comes with a range of 410 km and the Atto 3 Extended Range which is capable of covering 480 km.

While the BYD Atto 3 Standard Range is priced at RM149,800 on the road without insurance, the Extended Range variant is priced at RM167,800 on the road without insurance.

Measuring 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, the wheelbase length is rated at 2,720 mm, with a ground clearance of 175 mm. In terms of weight, the Atto 3 Standard Range weighs 1,680 kg while the Atto 3 Extended Range's weight is rated at 1,750 kg.

Power comes courtesy of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which produces 150 hp and 310 Nm of torque which enables the BYD Atto 3 to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds (both variants).

Also part of the package is the BYD Blade Battery with 49.92 kWh capacity for the Standard Range variant, and 60.48 kWh capacity for the Atto 3 Extended Range.

On the exterior, highlights include full LED headlights, LED taillights, ambient lighting on the door handles, a panoramic sunroof, an electric unlock tailgate, One-touch powered tailgate (Extended Range version only), roof rails, as well as electrically heated exterior mirrors. 

Another difference between both versions of the Atto 3 is that the Standard Range model comes with 17-inch wheels while the Extended Range variant gets 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the Atto 3 comes with a 5-inch digital instrument panel, synthetic leather seats, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 4-way power adjustbale co-driver's seat, ISOFIX mounts, 6-speakers, a 12.8-inch intelligent rotating touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Voice Command, as well as two USB type C ports. 

Other convenience features include a wireless phone charger (Extended Range variant only), a 12V socket, keyless entry, Portable card entry, automatic air-conditioning, a heat pump, a CN95 air filter, as well as a PM 2.5 air filter for the Extended Range variant.

The list of safety and driver assistance features is quite extensive as well, comprising seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, Hill Descent Control, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, as well as Front Collision Warning system, Rear Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Door Open Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

In case you're wondering how long it takes to charge the BYD Atto 3, AC charging takes 8 hours for the Standard Range variant and 9.5 hours for the Extended version, while DC charging from 0% to 80% takes 80 minutes for both variants.

That being said, the BYD Atto 3 comes with six years or 150,000 km warranty, while the Blade EV battery’s separate warranty is valid for eight years or 160,000 km.

In addition, there is also another 150,000 km or eight-year warranty for the motor, motor controller, DC assembly and electric control assembly.
