BMW Motorrad Malaysia welcomed three new additions into its local line up last weekend during the sixth edition of the BMW Motorrad Night Fuel Malaysia event. The lifestyle-esque evening soiree was held at the Sungai Besi airfield on Saturday night.

Making landfall here were the highly anticipated new BMW R1250 GS and R1250 GS Adventure duo, as well as the new F850 GS Adventure offering. Here’s what you ought to know about all three.

BMW R1250 GS & R1250 GS Adventure
The long awaited replacement of the German brand’s renowned R1200 GS adventure tourer has finally arrived, bringing forth new levels of performance and abilities thanks to its brand new heart. The new model was introduced in both its standard and Adventure guises during the evening.

Like the BMW R1250 RT sport touring model launched just a few months prior, the R1250 GS harnesses a larger new 1,254cc boxer-twin heart that’s now primed with BMW’s new variable cam profile system called ShiftCam Technology. As before, this mill is paired with yet another signature hardware, that being a shaft-drive setup.

The new engine also offers improved emission and fuel consumption levels as well as a particularly satisfying sound, not forgetting improved outputs of 136hp and 143Nm. Notably, the mill has been optimised further with new knock sensors, allowing it to run on fuels with a rating of less than RON95 – an advantage when travelling through remote corners of the world.

Notable features on board include an interactive 6.5-inch TFT full-colour instrument display panel, keyless ignition, cruise control, bi-directional quickshifter, hill-start control, as well as Electronic Suspension Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” with fully automatic load compensation amongst many others.

An optional Riding Mode Pro feature is available too, and it adds further on top of the standard-equipped Road and Rain modes. This option adds Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), ABS Pro, Hill Start Control Pro and the new Dynamic Brake Assistant (DBC) features into the bill as well.

Available in available in the Style HP and Style Exclusive colour schemes, the new BMW R1250 GS commands a starting price tag of RM116,500.

The R1250 GS Adventure, on the other hand, which comes in either Ice Grey and Style HP colourway options, commands RM125,500 and RM127,500 respectively.

BMW F850 GS Adventure
Also introduced during the evening soiree is the uprated Adventure variant of the F850 GS middleweight dual-sport model. I this form, the F850 GS sports a host of uprated new features that further enhances its talents and abilities to tackle the rough.

Highlights include a pair of new upside-down telescopic front forks, an aluminium double-sided rear swinging arm assembly with central spring strut, LED headlamps, added connectivity function in its 6.5-inch full-colour TFT instrument screen, wider enduro footrests, adjustable shift and foot brake levers, a new and widened windscreen that’s also adjustable, as well as cross-spoke aluminium wheels measuring 21 inches up front and 17 inches at the rear.

At the heart of things is, as previously reported, a new 853cc parallel-twin mill that boasts both a 90-degree crankpin offset and a 270/450-degree ignition spacing, which generates 95hp and 92Nm. Both are sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed box and chain-drive setup, the former further primed with a self-amplifying anti-hopping clutch (wet clutch) as well.

Available in Rallye style for the local Malaysian market, the new BMW F850 GS Adventure goes on sale with a starting price tag of RM88,500 – RM9,000 up from the base F850 GS model’s RM79,500 price tag.
