All-new 2020 Range Rover Evoque lands in Malaysia
Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLR Malaysia) sees its line up updated with the arrival of the all-new second generation Range Rover Evoque. As per the current ‘new norm’, the model was launched online via Facebook Live earlier today.
Introduced were a base Evoque variant, followed by a sportier – and peppier – Evoque R-Dynamic above it. Both share similar powertrain packages consisting of a 2.0-litre 4cyl turbo petrol mill, 9-speed auto box, all-wheel-drive (AWD) and Terrain Response 2 suite.
Aptly, R-Dynamic is the quicker car of the two thanks to its 245bhp and 365Nm tune, allowing 0-100kph done in 7.5 secs. The base Evoque, which gets a 197bhp and 320Nm tune instead, is only 1 sec slower over the R-Dynamic in the 0-100kph sprint.
Besides that, the two are easily set apart by their distinct exterior differences, with the R-Dynamic aptly getting a sportier outfit. Nevertheless, the new base design’s heavy inspiration from the Evoque’s slightly bigger Velar cousin is also evident as it boasts stow-away door handles for a ‘clean flush’ as well.
There are plenty of luxuries on board plus a sleuth of high tech goodies. Notable amongst which is a novel new ClearSight vision system found in the R-Dynamic. This lets drivers see more out the rear view mirror despite a fully loaded boot, as well as obstacles under the front end through a GroundView function.
Other highlights include Range Rover’s neat and interactive dual touchscreen display in the centre stack brimmed with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a crisp 380-watt Meridian hi-fi sound system, not forgetting active driver aids such as semi-autonomous parking and lane-keep assist amongst many.
Range Rover’s revamped Porsche Macan rival is now open for orders at RM426,828* for the base Evoque and RM475,398* for the sportier R-Dynamic. Said prices include a five-year or 150,000km warranty coverage with 5-year or 65,000km servicing package and 3-year roadside assistance (*with government’s current SST waiver).
Furthermore, JLR Malaysia is offering RM3,000 worth of accessory vouchers that can be used to purchase original accessories for the new Evoque, but only for a limited time of course. By the way, accessories purchased from JLR Malaysia also come with a 5-year warranty.
