The 2022 Volkswagen Passat R-Line now has 220PS & 350Nm of torque

Volkswagen Passenger Car Malaysia (VPCM) has officially launched the new 2022 Volkswagen Passat R-Line for the Malaysian market. If you had your eyes on the previous Passat R-Line can probably move on to this updated one with more power as well as other premium features.

Starting with firepower, the 2022 Volkswagen Passat R-Line is powered by a 2.0TSI turbocharged engine which produces 220PS and 350Nm of torque. Compared to the previous-gen launched back in 2020, the 2022 model produces roughly around 30PS and 30Nm more. All of these are sent down to the wheels via a six-speed wet clutch DSG gearbox.

This new Passat R-Line also happens to be a CKD model assembled in Pekan, Pahang where it's only the second VW model in Malaysia to honour VW's new logo. Five colours are up for grabs for those who are interested, including the newly-included Scale Silver. Other colours are Aquamarine Blue, Manganese Grey, Deep Black, and Oryx White.

Other highlighted features include a premium Harmon Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and a 700-watt amplifier, haptic touch air-conditioning controls, Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with selectable driving modes, and many more.

Last but not least, the price. The 2022 Volkswagen Passat R-Line is priced at RM211,916.88 (on-the-road price excluding insurance + sales tax exemption until 30 June 2022). This price also comes with three years free maintenance, five years unlimited mileage warranty, and five years roadside assistance.
