Meet the Triumph Trident's touring sister, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its middleweight offering yet again with the launch of the all-new 2022 Triumph Tiger Sport 660. Based on the Triumph Trident 660 roaster unveiled back in October 2020, the new 2022 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 offers a more adventure-touring vibe with a huge dose of sportiness (hence the Sport in its name).

Considered to be the most powerful in its class, the Tiger Sport 660 comes equipped with a 660cc triple-cylinder engine that produces 80hp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of torque at 6,250rpm (the same as the Triumph Trident 660). Triumph also promises the new Tiger Sport 660 to deliver 'the perfect combination of low-down torque with a strong mid-range and class-leading top-end power'.

All of its power and torque is sent down to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission and final X-ring chain drive, as well as a slip and assist clutch mechanism for an overall improved riding experience.

As for design, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 carries a more modern rendition of adventure sports with its new bodywork, twin headlights, and a more compact facade as the bike flows towards the rear. That touring aura is further enhanced thanks to sculpted radiator cowls, fork protectors, and an underslung exhaust silencer.

Its tubular steel perimeter frame is combined together with a Showa 41mm USD front fork with separate function cartridge, rear Showa monoshock RSU, Nissin brakes (310mm front, 255mm rear), 17-inch cast aluminium wheels, Michelin Road 5 rubbers, and a conventional twin-sided steel swingarm.

Other features include:

  • 17.2-litre fuel tank
  • 206kg wet weight
  • Integrated pannier mounts
  • Height-adjustable windscreen with single-handed action adjuster
  • Switchable traction control
  • Dual-channel ABS
  • TFT screen + many more

Based on the current track record of Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia, we can expect the new 2022 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 to arrive on our shores as early as January next year. As for pricing, it should wander too far off from the 2021 Triumph Trident 660 which is currently offered from RM43,900 (excluding insurance, road tax, and insurance).
