The all-new S-Class is here, but no word on the pricing yet
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially announced the arrival of its latest flagship vehicle, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz S 580 e. The all-new S-Class is regarded as the world's best-selling luxury in the market, and just like its predecessor, the new S 580 e offering will be locally assembled right here in Malaysia.
One of the biggest updates that you'll find in the new S-Class is the second-gen Mercedes-Benz MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) where the voice command feature is now available no matter where you seat, front or back. Embedded with the latest tech and AI features, the new MBUX system us able to learn and accommodate to the driver as well as other usual occupants of the car.
Safety aspects have also been significantly upgraded with a world's-first spec, rear airbags. Integrated into the backrests of the front seats which will deploy during a severe front impact. Impact loads to the head and neck can be significantly reduced by avoiding contact with the front seats for those seating at the outer rear seats. All that safety is surely appreciated with the S 580 e's new cabin architecture designed for optimum levels of comfort, luxury, and ergonomics.
Its outer appearance has been kept within the styles of the S-Class DNA with upgraded aerodynamics as well as aeroacoustics for an even quieter and smoother ride. This is especially important as its 3.0-litre inline-six hybrid engine produces 367hp and 500Nm of torque. Together with its 9G-Tronic transmission, the new S 580 e is able to hit 0-100kmh in just 5.2 seconds before reaching its limited top speed of 250km/h.
Those who are a bit more eco-friendly can also appreciate its hybrid-electric inclusion which allows the new S 580 e to travel in all-electric mode at an estimated distance of 100km. With a total of five large screens within the cabin, a quiet ride is vital to fully enjoy the infotainment system within the new S-Class. Other highlights include enhanced driving assistance systems, upgraded LED lighting system, and more.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also announced that the bookings are now open, but they have yet to specify the estimated price tag. What we do is that the first few deliveries are set at end of January 2022, and we will of course be notified regarding the prices prior to that. Stay tuned for more details.
