2022 Mazda CX-8 gets 2.5L turbo engine, GVC Plus - From RM177k
Other goodies include the new Platinum Quartz colour and a new grille among others
The new and enhanced 2022 Mazda CX-8 was unveiled today in Malaysia with new features as well as a new Skyactiv-G 2.5L Turbo variant.
Including the new trim level, the full list of variants and their prices are as mentioned below:

The main highlight is the new CX-8 2.5L Turbo AWD High Plus variant which is powered by a Skyactiv-G 2.5L Turbo engine that delivers 228 hp and 420 Nm torque with a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
The powertrain and seating configuration of the 2022 Mazda CX-8 remains the same, except for the Skyactiv-D 2.2L diesel variant which is now 2WD.
All variants are paired with Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed Automatic transmission with Manual Shift mode.
Other than that, newly added features that are standard across the board include GVC Plus, additional USB ports for the 3rd row passengers, a 7-inch Instrument Cluster meter, a six-way powered seat for front passenger, a hands-free Power tailgate, and auto-folding mirrors.
As for the individual variants’ enhancements, the 2.5L Mid and High variants get new leather seats in black, while the CX-8 2.5L High Plus variant retains the Nappa Leather in Deep Red Finishing.
Meanwhile, the CX-8 2.5L High variant and above receive an updated grille design, LED Signature headlamps, LED interior lamps as well as Wireless charger and Wireless Apple Carplay which is accessible through the 8-inch Mazda Connect Infotainment display.
The CX-8 2.5L High Plus higher-spec variants also get Gunmetal finishing on the front grille and chrome bumper garnish, front seats with heated and ventilation function as well as updated i-Activsense features which includes the newly added Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), High Beam Control (HBC), front and rear Smart Brake Support (SBS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go.
All variants of the CX-8 have also get G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus), which controls and stabilises the vehicle’s behaviour at high speed while cornering.
How it works is that the GVC Plus system applies brake force lightly to the outer wheels as the steering wheel is returned to the central position.
That being said, the Mazda CX-8 is locally-assembled at the Inokom Assembly plant located at Kulim, Kedah.
The colour line-up includes Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black and two new colours: Platinum Quartz and Polymetal Gray.
While the selling price starts from RM177,674, all new Mazda vehicles registered comes with a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) according to manufacturer’s standards inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants.
Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
