Here it is, the new (facelift) Proton Exora, available in two variants of 1.6T Executive and 1.6T Premium, priced at RM59,800 and RM66,800 respectively. The seven-seat MPV now – as you can guess, based on the recent Iriz and Persona update – now has an infotainment unit that allows for connectivity using an embedded eSIM card. So in the 1.6T Premium, now you can stream music off the web, navigate roads better and get weather updates, all as a first in its segment.
As in the new X70, as well as facelifted Iriz and Persona, the Exora now accepts voice commands too, prompted by ‘Hi Proton’. The infotainment unit is controlled by a 7-inch touchscreen, which also gives the user smartphone connectivity on top of a mirror function for Andoid devices. Updates for the software is done Over The Air (OTA), meaning that the system on the 2019 Exora is closer to the X70’s rather than the hatchback/sedan.
Exora with PROTON’s panel on insurers. For the outside, changes to the MPV is minimal – new shark fin antenna, black exterior roof panel, and new Rosewood Maroon body colour. Inside, there’s new upholstery, a new meter combination, and borderless rear-view mirror.
No changes to the engine though, with the 1.6 litre turbocharged unit making 140ps and 203Nm of torque. For safety, there’s twin front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), disc brakes all-around, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD).
The 2019 Exora is offered with Extra Value packages beginning with the service package that offers three free labour services. Next is the Internet data package with free data (1GB per month) for five years. The final two packages are the interest rate package with financing rates as low as 2.76 per cent and the insurance package that offers a number of benefits to buyers who insure their 2019 Exora with Proton’s panel of insurers.
Customers who gets the Exora this year will also get a 5-year or 11 times free labour service package while the first 1,000 buyers will have free road tax for two years (private buyers). Corporate customers on the other hand will get free road tax for a year.
