8000 bookings for the Persona received

Deputy CEO Datuk Md Radzaif also reveals that Premium variant is best seller

According to Proton deputy CEO, Datuk Md Radzaif Mohamed, the company has received more than 8000 bookings for the latest Persona sedan. The majority of which are for the top Premium variant, taking as much as 45% of the total number.

He adds that this is against Proton’s own prediction, which initially expected more attention for the Standard variant.

Out of that 8000 bookings, more than 1500 units have been delivered to customers.

An interesting fact to raise is that while manual transmission fans may make a lot of noise in online forums and blogs, the truth is only 10 per cent of purchases are for the three-pedal car.

Datuk Md Radzaif revealed these details during a casual Q&A session following the media test drive session for the Proton Persona.

The Persona was launched on 23rd August as part of an ambitious three-car-launch-in-three-months strategy (actually, four cars if you count the Perdana). That makes it approximately a month old in the local market. With company CEO, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali indicating during the launch that they are expecting a sales figure of 3000 to 4000 units per month, the response has no doubt been very positive.
