The Malaysian arm of Swiss watchmaker Mido organised a star-studded and glitzy soiree earlier last month where it celebrated the arrival of its latest offerings on top of rewarding several lucky contest winners.

The evening also served as a precursor of the brand’s upcoming 100th year celebrations for next year. The soiree first kicked off at the marque’s flagship boutique in Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur where a special prize-giving ceremony was held. Mido Malaysia took the opportunity here to reward its two lucky winners of its recently concluded #MyMidoMoment contest, rewarding each winner with a brand new and exquisite Mido timepiece that was presented by local movie star JC Chee.

Whilst there, Mido Malaysia had all of its current line up of luxury timepieces on display. Adding further excitement to the whole affair here was the special display of skills and dexterity by a small troupe of parkour athletes. The display was aimed at illustrating the brand’s “to be and to last” philosophy that’s embodied in both its design and renowned mechanical movements.

Shortly thereafter came the evening’s biggest highlight, which was the local launch of Mido’s latest special, the Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition. Revealed during a special gala dinner, this new special offshoot of Mido’s stellar Multifort marked the second time the Swiss watchmaker worked in partnership with renowned American fine leather tanners. At the core of the Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition is a robust 44mm stainless steel case that houses a Caliber 80 automatic movement. It also boasts a transparent case back that allows enthusiasts to bask in the finely built mechanism’s inner working that features an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo.

Additionally, this special edition timepiece also boasts easily interchangeable Horween leather straps made exclusively for it. The two straps, which are available in classic brown and black colours, are made by hand from fine calfskin, were designed to ensure this timepiece’s versatility for all occasions. Other notable traits include the mechanism’s 80-hour power reserve, water resistance of up to 100m (330ft) at a pressure of 10 bar, as well as Super-LumiNova numerals amongst others.

With its debut, Mido Malaysia will retail the Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition at RM4,310 through its boutiques and authorised retailers. The timepiece comes in a special presentation box that also contains two exclusively made matching Horween bracelets.
